IPL Photorejuvenation

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a skin treatment that reverses many of the visible signs of sun-damaged skin, including pigmentation, freckles, age spots, redness and capillaries.

The photorejuvenation process selectively heats both red and brown elements in the skin. This helps to lessen the appearance of capilliaries and pigmentation. It also promotes the formation of new collagen.

There are no open wounds or significant downtime with IPL treatment. The skin may have a slightly sunburnt appearance for 24 - 48 hours post-treatment. The pigmented areas become significantly darker in colour and may need to be camouflaged with foundation for two to seven days. Through the normal process of the skin's natural exfoliation, freckling disappears.

Areas of skin which will benefit the most are generally sun exposed areas, including: the face,  the neck and decolletage, and the backs of the hands.

This treatment is best complemented with the ongoing use of The Skin Lab dermatological skin care range.

Other types of rejuventating treatments are available including laser resurfacing and and Excel V and Genesis laser.

See our Patient Care page for pre and post-treatment information.
